Timing, Wardrobe, and Shots
A first-time shoot with a new model or a senior picture shoot usually takes about two hours
or so. Allow yourself a little extra time though, if we are having a good time it may go a bit longer. Sometimes when we can
arrange it, we like to use a few different locations to explore a models versitility with different looks and situations.
That can also lead to a little extra time but we keep travel to a minimum.
Your own closet and that of your friends is the best place to outfit yourself for our first
shoot together. By choosing your looks and colors, I can get a feel for your personality and preferrences. Knowing what you
like and what you think looks best on you helps me know how best to shoot you to capture the images that bring out your best.
Be creative and have fun with it. I'd suggest that you go with several different colors and changes of accessories as well
to bring that variety into the shoot. Shoes aren't as important as earrings, necklaces, bracelets, even hats... unless they
are really unique, one shoe looks about like another in a full-body shot. The earrings and such can make or break an otherwise
killer headshot. Bring ALOT of changes... I will seldom shoot more than 10-15 shots in the same outfit. Local area designers
are also a great place to find 'loaner outfits'.
Unlike many photographers, I don't shoot a thousand pictures of the same thing on a shoot. When
you get your CD back, you will notice that there are very few of the shots that are the same. Because of that, our TFCD shoots
usually are made up of anywhere from 70 to 100 shots or so. There will always be good, bad, and great shots in the mix. What
there will not be are several shots that match each other. When we get what we want, we move on. It doesn't help to have seven
shots on the same picnic table in the same shirt with the same knee-cross... why bother eating up time and effort to repeat.
